Organizations Banquet

The Organizations Banquet is a tradition that was brought back to the SJU community by the 2016-2017 Executive Board. Following Accepted Students Day, Student Government Inc. partnered with the Office of Admissions and the Division of Student Affairs to rekindle the old tradition of holding an Organizations Banquet to celebrate organizations accomplishments and acknowledge the student leaders who have been instrumental to those accomplishments. Awards were given for the following categories:

Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will be available in the Spring Semester of 2018.

Service Award
The Service Award recognizes an organization whose vision, accomplishments and good works embody the essence of St. Vincent de Paul and reflect the mission of St. John’s University.

2017 Recipient | Iota-Tau Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity.

The Social Justice Award recognizes one student organization that has responded to the needs of the campus community through programs and practices. This organization is honored for its contributions in creating a culture of developing understanding, tolerance, and acceptance through mutual respect and advocacy.

2017 Recipient | Theta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

Living Your Values Award
The Living Your Values Award is presented to an organization that best exemplifies their mission, purpose and values. This organization has stayed true to their core values and has demonstrated growth and progress toward achieving their mission.

2017 Recipient | Muslim Student Association.

Bridge Builder Award
The Bridge Builder Award recognizes an organization that positively impacts the SJU community and beyond. This organization actively engages and connects people from various backgrounds and areas through service, education, and connection.

2017 Recipient | African Student Association

Collaboration Award
The Collaboration Award recognizes organizations who have made meaningful contributions to the St. John’s community through collaborative efforts by working with numerous organizations or a one-time collaborative effort between two or more organizations. These co-sponsored programs demonstrate synergy and success as a result of organizations working together. The recipients have demonstrated they can connect students from diverse backgrounds and foster greater communication between organizations on campus.

Relighting the Torch Award
The Relighting the Torch Award recognizes an organization which has demonstrated exceptional organizational improvement or rebuilding throughout the year.

2017 Recipient | Beta Omega Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

New Student Organization
The New Student Organization award is given to an organization new to campus this academic year who has demonstrated exceptional growth within their first two years as a SGI recognized organization.

2017 Recipient | SJU Red Cross.

Organization of the Year
The Student Organization of the Year Award is presented annually to an outstanding organization who has made significant contributions above and beyond what is expected. The award honors an organization that has been an example to other organizations through recruitment, community service, programming, education and leadership.
